Ulum al Shari’ah

Mawlana Sulaiman Saleem

Hafiz, Alim and Khatīb, Mawlana Sulaiman Saleem is also the current president of IIE. He took over as the president of IIE in 2020. Mawlana Sulaiman Saleem completed hifz and graduation from Darul Uloom Deoband, India. He also obtained an associates degree in social studies from Chicago. For the last twenty years he has been teaching various subjects related to hadith and fiqh at this Institute.

Dr. Mufti Yasir Nadeem al Wajidi

Dr. Mufti Yasir Nadeem al Wajidi is the Dean, Academics and Curriculum at IIE, He obtained a PhD in hadith from International Islamic University Malaysia and MA from American Open University in Arabic language and literature; prior to obtaining degrees in postgraduate programs he earned Fadhilat and Ifta from Darul Uloom Deoband. Dr. Mufti Yasir Nadeem al Wajidi is one of the leading faculty members of IIE; he specializes in hadith, fiqh and ilm al-kalam and thus is one of the most prominent teachers in the United States. He has also interest in issues related to comparative religion, modern challenges of atheism, religious pluralism, etc. He is also working actively in the field of social justice.

Mawlana Ubaidullah Saleem

Hafiz, Alim and one of the prominent scholars, Mawlana Ubaidullah Saleem served at IIE as the president from 2014 to 2020. Currently he is the Director and Chief Imam at Masjid al Islam, IIE. Mawlana was trained according to the traditional Islamic curriculum and was graduated at the prestigious Darul Uloom Deoband. He received ijazah from prominent scholars of hadith of Deoband. Mawlana Ubaidullah Saleem has been teaching various subjects in hadith, fiqh, aqidah, tafseer, and the Arabic language for the last 25 years and has successfully trained many scholars who are serving the Muslim community as Imams, Muftis, and Ulama across America.

Mawlana Ali Toft

With degrees from Harvard University (Master in Education, in 2003) and Northwestern University (BA, Economics, 2002), Mawlana Ali Toft’s education is as diverse as his teaching experience, having taught in the U.S. and in Saudi Arabia. A Hafiz al-Qur’an from IIE (2003), and a graduate of Darul Uloom Online in Islamic Religious Sciences (2013), holding ijazah from Hazrat Mawlana Muhammad Abdullah Saleem (July 2017) and from Hazrat Shaykh Zulfiqar Ahmad (Sept 2017), with multiple complete recitations of Quran for ijazah including a recitation upon Shaykh Muhammad Kurayyim Rajih in the Ten Qira’at by way of Shatibiyyah and Durrah (2014), Mawlana Ali Toft returns to teach Alim program students at his alma mater IIE for the 2021-2022 academic year.

Mufti Abrar Mirza

Mufti Abrar, an alumnus of IIE, began his Arabic and Islamic Studies at Benedictine University (Lisle, IL) while enrolled in a degree program in Information Systems. Simultaneously, he began Arabic studies at Darul Qasim (Glen Ellyn, IL). He later enrolled in a summer Arabic program at the Institute of Islamic Education (IIE) in Elgin, IL, upon which he decided to continue his studies in the religious sciences and helped form the first batch of graduate students from the ‘Alim program. He thus had the good fortune to study under recognized scholars, including the renowned commentator of the Quran and former Shaykh al-Hadith of the Dar al-‘Ulum in Deoband, Mawlana Muhammad Na’im (may Allah have mercy on him), under whom he completed the study of Sahih al-Bukhari. In 2009, at Madrasah In’aamiyyah (South Africa) Mufti Abrar completed his training under the tutelage of Mufti Ebrahim Desai (may Allah have mercy on him), a world renowned jurist and expert in Islamic finance. He is also fortunate to have received authorization to narrate from forty-four books of hadith. Mufti Abrar is the founder of the American Fiqh Academy and is active in the field of research and issuing legal verdicts (fatwas). In addition, he is the Head Mufti at Darul Iftaa Chicago, IIE, Elgin where he trains ‘ulama in the field of issuing legal verdicts.

Shaykh Abdul Hayy Habbal

Abdul Hayy Habbal, a Hafiz of Qur’an with 7 narrations, having a 10 year teaching experience, currently is a Shari’ah program teacher at IIE. Habbal, born in Syria, trained in both, traditional as well as academic Islamic learning. He earned a bachelor degree in usul al-fiqh from the University of Aleppo, Syria. He established Qur’an academy in Masjid Al-Sankari, Aleppo, where he was also an Imam. His experience includes 7 years of teaching Arabic, Islamic studies and Qur’an. Prior to joining IIE he taught at Rockford Iqra School, Illinois and Sunday school in Dubuque, Iowa. His other activities are leading Tarawih, delivering lectures, and participating in the programs often held in mosques nationwide.

Mawlana Abdur Rahman Saleem

Mawlana Abdur Rahman is the Director, Outreach and Promotion at IIE, Mawlana Saleem obtained an alim degree from the prestigious Darul Uloom Deoband in India. Prior to obtaining his degree in Shari’ah program he was also trained under several Qura in Deoband. He has been assigned responsibilities to promote the cause of IIE and make the community aware about the activities of IIE. He also leads Tarawih during the month of Ramadhan at IIE’s Masjid al-Islam. He has performed as a judge in several Qir’at competitions in India and the US. He has been teaching Arabic and tajweed for the last three decades at IIE; simultaneously, he taught tajweed and Qir’at in different Islamic centers and institutes in Chicagoland.

Ustaz Abdul Hadi Agadr

Abdel Hadi Agadr is is one of the two Deputy Deans, Academics and Curriculum at IIE. He is a native Arabic speaker; he attended Akhawayn University in Morocco and was graduated in Engineering. After completing his education at university level Abdul Hadi started teaching advanced levels of Math and Science- particularly physics. Before joining IIE he was teaching in Dayton, Ohio. He has special skills of teaching, explaining and simplifying the material. The students notice a big difference between the way he uses to present the course material and the ordinary curricula conducted in public schools.

Mawlana Abdul Hakim Dickenson

The alumnus of IIE, Mawlana Abdul Hakim Dickenson has been serving the Muslim community in a number of different functions both at the college level and in mosques for nearly two decades as an imam and educator with brief stints in the east coast and down south in Canada as well. He has been an imam, a khateeb, a lecturer along with many other titles, and, of course, it is worth mentioning he received his education from this Institute in Elgin. Mawlana Abdul Hakim completed his education in hadith and other Islamic sciences in 2009. From the year of his graduation he joined IIE as the Alim program lecturer until 2013. He returns to his alma mater this year and has resumed his services as the lecturer into the Alim program.

Mufti Zeshan Ahmad

Mufti Zeshan Ahmed was born and raised in Springfield, OH. After moving to Chicago in his early teens, he enrolled at the Institute of Islamic Education (Elgin, IL) to memorize the Quran. Upon successful completion of his memorization in 2011, his desire for higher Islamic education led him to enroll in and successfully complete the ‘Alim course at the same institute. In 2017, Mufti Zeshan decided to further his education by specializing in the field of issuing legal verdicts (iftaa) at Darul Iftaa Chicago under the tutelage of Mufti Abrar Mirza (may Allah protect him). Mufti Zeshan leads the assisted reading sessions at Darul Iftaa Chicago, IIE, Elgin. In parallel, he continues to pursue specialization in the various modes of Quran recitation.


Mawlana Saad Saleem

Mawlana Saad Saleem after memorizing the Qur’an at a very early age attended Jamia Rahimia in New Delhi; he earned a degree in Shari’ah from Darul Uloom Deoband, India. Since the inception of IIE he has been teaching Qur’an at IIE and has successfully produced a good number of Huffaz. Many prominent huffaz and ulama in America memorized the Qur’an under the tutelage of Mawlana Saad Saleem.

Hafiz Raage Farah

Hafiz Raage is an alumnus of IIE where he currently serves as a hifz teacher, helping young children on their journey of memorizing the Qur’an. He has a record to his credit, reciting the entire Holy Qur’an in one sitting.

Muftiah Ambreen Sajjad

Ambreen Ahmad born and raised in India's Saharanpur is a Hafizah, Muftiah, Aalimah and Qari’ah. She received degrees in ulum al-shari’ah from Jamia Salihat, Malegaon & Noor al-Anwar, Hyderabad, India. She started her Alimah teaching career by imparting home based classes to female students in 2010. In 2017, she began service as a Qur’an Tahfiz teacher in Chicago through online mediums. She has mentored on average 1 hafizah in a one year period. Currently she is serving as a teacher in the alim and hifz programs at IIE’s Girls School.


Ishrat Asghar

Ishrat Asghar is the Vice Principal at IIE Girls' School. She was born and raised in Deoband, India. She studied Seerah, Hadith, Fiqh and Tafseer al-Qur’an and received a diploma from Jamia Diniyat, Deoband. Later she studied the Intensive Arabic program at the Institute of Islamic Education, Elgin, IL. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Behavioral Sciences at National Louis University where she received an award from the National Society of Leadership and Success “Sigma Alpha Pi”. Ishrat Asghar is a dedicated and hardworking professional with ten years of experience in administration and teaching Qura’n, Arabic and Islamic Studies.

Asma Saleem

Asma Saleem is one of the two Deputy Deans, Academics and Curriculum at IIE. She completed high school from St. Ann’s High School, India. She obtained a bachelors degree in science from Meerut university, India, and then moved to one of India’s most prestigious institutions of higher learning at Aligarh. She obtained a master’s degree in science from Aligarh Muslim University. She moved to US in 2005 and since 2013 she has been teaching math at the Girls School of IIE. She also taught math at the Boys School in the academic year of 2017-18. She is also responsible for developing and managing IIE’s Sunday school, which she began in 2006 and has been continuously serving till date.

Samira Ahmed

Samira Ahmad is the Liaison Officer at IIE Girls School. A student of the Great Books of the Western Education program, Samira Ahmed’s studies (undergraduate and graduate) has centered entirely on mastering the reading and analysis of the classics within the literary canon of Western civilization. This classical education has pushed her to introduce discussion-based elements into her classroom while leaving time to provide instruction in an interdisciplinary manner emphasizing social and emotional learning and career planning. Her teaching focuses on developing the five core areas of English in an applied manner: thinking, writing, reading, speaking, and listening. She teaches electives, non-fiction writing with an emphasis on style alongside the core English American School classes. Moshaddek Hasan

Moshaddek Hasan obtained his bachelors degree in computer science and engineering from the University of Dhaka in 2008. In 2000 he secured 10th place among more than 1 million students in the SSC exam conducted by the Bangladesh Education Board. He has to his credit two international research papers presented in the IEEE sponsored conference in 2008 and 2009 in VLSI and reversible logic design. Moshaddek has 11 years of experience in research in VLSI design, 9 years of experience in database programming using Oracle SQL, PL/SQL and the web technologies, and 6 years of experience in teaching. He is currently teaching at IIE.
